APP OF THE WEEK: aMath Numbers Eng

This week, we recommend aMath Numbers Eng for kids.

The app is an educational mathematics game based on Tetris principle. The game helps preschool, kindergarten and elementary school children learn numbers from 0 up to 100 in a fun way by combining visual and audio elements.

It contains 4 ranges of numbers: 1 to 10, 11 to 20, 1 to 20 and 0 to 100, plus 5 levels of difficulty for each range that makes it useful for 3-5year olds.

After learning how to count numbers from 1 to 10, kids can easily upgrade to counting from 1 to 20.

With the help of this game, kids can name and put in order numbers from 0 to 100.

aMath Numbers Eng aspires to be the first educational game for kids learning mathematics. The math game can be used for lessons at school and home tutorials. Enjoy!

KIDS INVENT : Cassidy Goldstein (Age 11) Invented Crayon Holders

Did you know that the Popsicle, ear muffs and the trampoline were invented by kids? Yes, kids can be incredibly creative and inventive and some even see their big ideas develop into astounding business opportunities as well. Some kids turn their frustration, mistake, stroke-of-luck and brilliance into commercial successes, businesses and even life-long careers.

Here is one of such inspiring stories.

Cassidy Goldstein (Age 11) Invented Crayon Holders.

At age 11, Cassidy Goldstein encountered a problem that has vexed creative kids for generations: her crayons were broken and the pieces were too small to hold onto. Still, undeterred, she searched through her arts and crafts supplies until she found a plastic tube designed to keep roses fresh during shipping. Goldstein inserted a crayon piece into the tube and unwittingly created her first prototype! Today her crayon holders not only make it easy to use broken crayons, but they also help kids with fine motor difficulties to hold onto wax pastels.

In 2006, the Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation named Goldstein Youth Inventor of the Year. According to reports, the invention earned Goldstein enough money to cover most of her college costs and helped to get her set up after she graduated.

Welcome to Key Stage 2

Good times in school are always memorable!

Here in key stage 2, we discover and develop the potential within each pupil using memorable techniques. We support and nurture individual pupil with diverse needs to develop confidence and resilience through a wide range of learning activities. This is because we believe that every child can learn and will thrive if he/she is provided with a stimulating learning environment where the children are free to express themselves and drive their learning process (es).

Thus, we encourage all  pupils to explore and achieve their highest potential in all aspects of life,  and become solution providers and if by extension, world changers!

Every instruction in and outside our classrooms is broad -based and child – centered. Collaboration is our watch word and we make learning fun. We maintain good communication between home and school to maximise the learning experience for each pupil.

In key stage 2, our individual abilities and diversities are both appreciated and celebrated. Finally, our core values are: excellence, diligence and responsibility.

Welcome to our Nursery School

Dear Parents,

We are excited to welcome you to our child- friendly nursery section. The nursery experience should be an exciting and critical time in your child’s development and we all should play important roles to make it wonderful and fun for the children. We realise that choosing the right care centre for one’s child is one of the most difficult decisions parents face; hence, our mission is to establish Imperial Gate School as the first choice of nursery to parents seeking quality care and development for their children.

We offer the very highest standards of care and learning in a cosy, exciting and stimulating environment where a child can grow and develop in all spheres. Each child is treated equally and with respect, as an individual with his/her own personality. We encourage our children to grow and develop at their own pace with daily activities that are varied, stimulating, imaginative and creative.

Our nursery group consists of the Playgroup, Preschool, Nursery One and Two. The Preschool is a pleasant and warm environment where your child is provided with the opportunity and necessary support to develop appropriately in potty training, eating habits and speaking.

Enjoyment is provided for free play, circle time, story time, singing and structured play so that social skills can evolve. Each day provides new experiences involving sand, water, building blocks and theme play to encourage the full development of your child. Children will learn the basic development skills involving colours, shapes, counting, scribbling and writing. Play is viewed as a vital time to explore and interact with peers and things in the environment. Social interaction is strongly encouraged to enhance their social and emotional development.

In addition to the social and emotional development, the nursery children are encouraged to explore the world around them. Stimulating, exciting and demanding activities will give your child the head start needed to get ready for primary school.

As a team and as individuals, our first priority is your child’s education and wellbeing while at school. We work hard to see that each child receives the greatest benefits of our educational programme which focuses on the six areas of learning. We are excited about our strong team; we have a great combination of talented teachers with qualities that complement and bring out the best in one another.  We enjoy working together; sharing ideas and helping our children become readers and learners for life!

Phonics is always an exciting and rewarding experience as the bedrock for formation of  words, reading, writing and spelling; you will be amazed at what your little ones would do at the end of their nursery education.

So, come on board!
