Clucking chickens encourage you, and squawk when you make a mistake. This free version has 12 games. If you get stuck making words, give your device a shake to shuffle the hens.

3. FARFARIA (iOS)

Travel to distant lands with FarFarias library of more than 100 books for kids up to 9 years old. The library contains classics like “Princess and the Pea” and “Hansel and Gretel,” as well as more modern titles. To keep it interesting, four new stories are added each week.

4. QUESTION BUILDER (iOS)

Appropriate for children who are  already reading, this app helps a child develop critical thinking skills and comprehension.  It also encourages abstract thinking and inferring, a difficult skill to reinforce at such a young age.  It is one and  the only apps found to focus on inferring and abstract thinking.

5. THE LAND OF ME  Story Time. (iOS, Android)

This app, created in the UK, lets your children create their own stories by choosing one of three heroes, story lines, and endings (happy, sad, or funny).   Boys are fascinated with this app and love making different stories with their very own selections.  The stories themselves are very short and simple. A great app because it shows children how easy it is to make up stories.

APP OF THE WEEK: aMath Numbers Eng

This week, we recommend aMath Numbers Eng for kids.

The app is an educational mathematics game based on Tetris principle. The game helps preschool, kindergarten and elementary school children learn numbers from 0 up to 100 in a fun way by combining visual and audio elements.

It contains 4 ranges of numbers: 1 to 10, 11 to 20, 1 to 20 and 0 to 100, plus 5 levels of difficulty for each range that makes it useful for 3-5year olds.

After learning how to count numbers from 1 to 10, kids can easily upgrade to counting from 1 to 20.

With the help of this game, kids can name and put in order numbers from 0 to 100.
